How Easy Is It To Guess Your Passwords? Brute Force VS Dictionary Attacks

No matter if your logging into your bank account or into Netflix you need a password, so how strong is yours?  Hackers are working diligently to crack your passwords.  They even have programs that will do all the work for them.

In this type of attack, a hacker uses software that guesses your password.  This software literally tries every word in the dictionary as your password.  It starts at aardvark and keeps going until it finds your password.  So if your password is cat…. cracked! How about password… cracked as well!  If you have any word that’s in the dictionary as your password your susceptible to this attack.

This is like a dictionary attack on steroids!  This not only tries to crack your password with dictionary words, but it also tries every combination possible to crack your password.  Brute force uses a combination of letters, numbers and special characters to crack your password.  Password aadvark123!!… cracked!  What about aer123!@3asd!!!… cracked as well!  The brute force attack will try every combination until the password is cracked
